That Hong Kong electricity lighting rates were now 10 per cent. lower than in 1914, and at the present) moment compared favourably with the rates charged in England and America were among the facts announced in the Chairman's speech at the Thirty ninth ordinary yearly meeting of the Hong Kong Electric Com- pany, Limited, held yesterday at noon

In 1925 the Company proposed to extend their North Point plant, but it had to be postponed owing to industrial troubles. The work is now being carried on, and a salient fact is that the scheme -is being proceeded with without asking for more capital,

A scheme to increase the subscribed capital to $8,000,000 by the issue to shareholders of 130,000 new shares in the proportion of one for every two now held was also proposed. This will be cons firmed at an extraordinary meeting to be held on April 2nd at 12.30.

A dividend of $2.50 per share, absorbing 8750,000 was de clared. This was made possible by the nett profit of $1,474,221.20 For the year 1927. Those present at the meating were
