SINGAPORE, March 7th. No settlement has yet been reach ed in the Singapore shoemakers strike, and unpleasant manifesta tions are beginning to appear.
Early in the strike' a bomb was thrown into a shoemaker's shop. It was a crudely manufactured article that failed to explode. An equally hamless contraption was thrown into another shoemaking establish ment a few days ago.
Last night, however, the Fice Brigade was called out twice to deal with ontbreaks of are that
followed the throwing by striking ehoemakers of bombs that did explode.
The Eres fortunately were not serious owing to the rather amateur quality of the bombs,
