"With regard to the Cowley,
I can assure, you that I never want to drive anything better, and it is my intention immedi- ately I arrive in Bombay to purchase another one.
I might mention I have had a lot of experience on the other side with American cars, but I am certainly going to swear by Mr. Morris's machine.

THE RESULTS.
ONE FAULTLESS RUN.
The results of the Motor Cycle { Rehability Trial, which are given below, are a wonderful tribute to the efficiency of British machines, and a great personal triumph for J. E. notewall, the only competi tor to come through the trial with- out losing a single mark.
The standard of riding and per formance was obviously very high, as is shown by the closeness of the leaders, and the only surprising result is in the team competition, where the winners lost a compara- fively large number of marks

HONG KONG HOTEL GARAGE,
The difficulty of analysing the many returns of marshals and observeri is very considerable, especially as there were so many really fine per- formances that differentiation caz in many cases only be a question of very small details.
It is in some ways unsatisfactory that so many riders should com- plete a perfect course, and that the leading places should be de cided by the necessarily arbitrary tints fixed by the committee, but it seems certam that this must be the case, be
The Next Trial
The course chosen was a fine our and really testing, yet there was & surprising amount of perfect rid- ing and climbing, which is of course a great testimony to both the ders and the machines. The ques tion which must be puzzling any people now is how can things be made more difficult for the next. trial, for the enthusiasm for, and the success of the recent trial en- Lures that there will be others in the future. The first and most abvious answer seems to be to speed it up and introduce a system of handicapping, but this solution immediately increases the element of danger, which is far from desir able. It is difficult to see how the course could be made very much more dificult without becoming merely freak,

MOTOR ROAD TO CANTON
A FEW MORE DETAILS.
will be a comparatively easy matter to construct a motor-road to Canton by enterprise, and to make it a paying proposition.
1
The scheme should interest motor-car dealers and the oil firms particular will undoubtedly give a tremendous impetus to their trade. It will benefit the whole country-side and indirectly help to reduce the cost of living by the increased facilities for bringing produce to the market.
The work can be done for under half a million dollars and I am personally prepared to subscribe a substantial proportion of this capital. All I desire now, before again approaching the Canton authorities, is to know that the proposition will be adequately supported if the preliminary details are satisfactorily arranged.
No money will be required until the plans are drawn up and approved. Nothing can be fairer, more straight-forward or plainer than this.
