LONDON, Feb. 15th.: Old political animosities are for- gotten this week for a space on the announcement of the death of Lord Oxford. Friends and foes alike pay tribute to the statesman whose namo will be remembered in history as the Prime Minister who was in power at the outbreak of the Great War. The newspapers contain long accounts of his career, which was He certainly a wonderful one. started life without influential friends, or money, and by sheer ini. tellectual strength and industry won a foremost place in the life of his age..

Lord Oxford was never the type- of man to become popular with the crowd. He was too aloof, some what frigid, and very reserved; and he despised the arts of the platform Grator. I have listened to him with sbean delight because of the even endence of his diction and the close logic of his argument; but to be quite frank, he left his hearers cold.
