CEREMONIAL OPENING OF KING'S COLLEGE.
H.E. THE GOVERNOR'S CON GRATULATIONS.
An important event to the educational world of the Colony took place yesterday when H. Sir Cecil Clementi, K.CM.G., officially opened the new buildings of King's College at Bonham Road. Over two thousand guests and patrons of the College were present.
King's College is the outgrowth of the Saisingpun School and its history dates back to 1879. In these remote days, the school had very few students and it was only after 19 years that the school had an attendance of 110. It then grew and prospered, until it was found necessary to enlarge the school and put it on a matri culation standard. The King's College is the result—so far.
The building was completed over a year ago, and was occupied by the military when part of the Shanghai Defence Force was. stationed in the Colony. It was turned over to the Royal Army Medical Corps for a hospital...
