SIR CECIL CLEMENTI'S TRIBUTE TO STAND AGAINST COMMUNISM.
Hong Kong accorded Marshal Li Tsai Hsin, the head of the. Canton Government, and the officers" and officials accompanying him, an extremely cordial welcome, on their arrival in the Colony yesterday morning-
At an official luncheon party at Government House, given in honour of the distinguished guests, and attended by members of the Executive and Legislative Councils and leading members of the Chines) echimunity, E.B. the Governor of Hong Kong, Bir Cecil Clementi, E.C.M.G., paid a striking tribute to Marshal Li's work in Canton.
"We in Hong Kong," said His Excellency, "have watched with sympathy and admiration the manner in which you, Marshal Li - have grappled with the immense difficulties confronting you. You have already done much to destroy the menace of Communism and Bolshevism and to curb the tyranny of labour in Liang Kwang provinces. You have understood how true is the friendship which exists in this Colony for Kwangtung; and you have shown yourself to be a real friend of Hong Kong."
Sir Cecil Clementi emphasised that the British aims and aspirations could be summed up in the one word
*^security."
Eliminate piratte and brigands, put an end to civil war. ned there need no longer be any clamon: about ' unequal trenties,* imperialism' and other meaningless albgams of Communist pro- paganda."
