The attendance on Saturday afternonu at Happy Valley showed that despite three days previous racing the public were aşkoen as

ever.

There were not many real uparts but the dividends nevertheless ran into double figures in all the races except two while the cash, sweeps were much above normai.

The chief event of the day, the Subscription Griffins Cham. pions, was won by Major Lake's Dumfries and this made the fourth sporting vićtory to the credit of the Borderers' on Saturday. They won the football match, the boxing tournament and the yacht race, Verily a sporting regiment.
