Behind the death of Mr. J. W. Wilson Fulham Hospital ties the story of a once rich and well- known music-hall artist who has den poor· mai
-Jack Wilson, who with his part ner, Miss Nellie Waring, was a "top-line " 'variety warn 15 years ago in Great Britain, America, Australia, and South Africa, made and lost three fortunes.
An inveterate gambler, he calen lated that he lost during his career £30,000 C horse-racing. and plunges on the Stock Exchange.
While still in his twenties he had mad nearly £10,000 in theatrical varnings and icky investments, but all of it went in a reckless gamble in real estate at Seattle.
It was 30 years ago when he first appeared in London, and before the war he and his partner, Miss Waring, bad the remarkable ex perience of playing in the Paluce Theatre, then a variety house, for 6 consecutive werks.
In 1912 he appeared at the same theatre at the Royal Command per formance before the King and Queer in company with a great company of
stars, including Cinquaili, Chirgwin, Altred
Lester, and others since dead.
For many years be earned on so £100 a week in England, play- ing at the Old Tivoli, the Oxford. the Pavilion, al other famous halls, and in America he was paid as much as $200 a week.

It was towards the end of the war, when a new type of variety
act became the vogue, that Wilson and Waring dropped out of the music-half business, and of late years he appeared in small parts in straight plays, his last West End part being in "Growing Pans, with Tom Douglas, at the Ambassadors, two yours ago.
