DRESSING FOR THE CAMERA.

FOR WOMEN WHO PHOTOGRAPH BADLY,

1

Now-n-days when visit to photographer is with many women more than an annual event, it is surprising that storm have not learnt the art of dressing for the camera, or come to realise the subtle difference between the clothes that photograph the best and those that. are martest in real life.

The following half-dozen suggest tions by a well-known photographer should be particularly useful to the woman who complains that her photographs never seem to show her real personality, for pribably this fault has lawn entirely due to wearing unsuitable clothes when the faces the camera,

First of all, never be photo- graphed in a dress just because it is new and smart. Indeed, the very fact that it is novel and striking ia a point against it. Besides drawing attention to itself, instead of everything concentrating upon the sitter's personality, its very fashionableness will date it ton ter- ribly in a year or two. Your face then will count for nothing, und people will, only comment upon your funny" clothon,

Secondly, never be photographed in evening dress. The modern glittering, clinging type of dance frock is desigual for movement in brilliantly illuminated rooms, with lovely dress as a setting. Alone and posing for her photographer, the wearer always looks rather like

Thirdly, there is the question of

Hair plays an important part in a photograph, and when considering whether it should be shampoord be forehand, remember that ordinary sleek eka are sometimes inclined to look rather greasy in a photo- graph. Still if washing makes if fon frizzy, avoid doing so for a day or two in advance. Nothing looks so bad in a photograph as a sort of South Sea Island wig.

Effecting A Cure.

Do not despair, mothers: Try the offret of not attempting to tidy his room one morning. In the evening, when he complätins that his bed has not been made, point out that you ör the maids are tired of wading through heaps of rubbish for his benefit. State further that when everything is placed tidily away you will have his be made,

The lesson may not sink in until you have repeated the experiment two or three times, but I can assure you that it will eventually for, even the youngest of the male sex likes comfort.

Provide Ample Cupboard Space.

Of course, you cannot expeet the; boy to put his things away, tidily inless he has somewhere to put them. One other of my nequaint aner had a small, stoutly construct- rd cupboard built, about 3ft high, the top of which could be used as #wark-bench or wireless table, or could hold a bookcase.. Underneath is a cupboard which can contain Lonis or sports gear.
