H.K.C.C. *. ARMY,
The game was resigned shortly after 11 mm, yesterday with the Army 130 on about and sight wicket to go.
Lench bowled the first over and without further score Coghill was taken at square leg. (3 for 39) Tyringham 'succeeded and was a bit lucky at the start as he lifted the ball dangerously, at times but it did not go to hand. Wales finally got one past Fogden who tried to hook a long-hop but only touched it and was bowled. Dobble than came in and for a time it seemed that a stand might ensue. But after giving a red-hot return to Leach which the bowler jant failed to hold, Tyringham mis-hit the next ball and it went up in the air to long leg. Hancock raced across from first slip and brought off a fine catch, (3 for 97.)...
Thereafter nothing of very much import happened with the excep tion of some fine hits by Dobbie. Wales bowled extremely well and got the remaining five wicket. Dobbie towards the end tried to force the game bat in jumping out to drive Wales he was startly atumped by Pearce when he had inade 30 very nice innings. Leach hit one tremendously hard for four almort straight off Summers, but the Innings closed for 130. Wales came out with the ex- cellent analysis of 8 for 48, and actually be took all his wickets after 30 runs had been scored off him.
The Final Lanings,
At 12,35 the Club went in with 204 to get for a win, a task that scomed by no means impossible. Hayward and Sayer were the open- ing pair and off the last bail of Dobbie's first over the former gave a simple chance to Dryadale a short mid-of Apparently, how- ever, the fieldsman was under the impression that it was a bump-ball and he did not take it. It looked as "if the mistake would cast the Army dear, as Hayward proceeded to play beautiful cricket: The wind had gone round to the South-west and Lesch bowled an over to enable Dobbie and Newbury to change ends, and might have had Saper caught in the gully. It was a tre mendously hard cut direct to Morris standing close. For a moment I thought he had it but the ball slip- ped out of his bands. It would have been a brilliant effort had it come off. With Newbury on at the Yard end the Club met dis- aster. Sayer stepped right into his wicket, and appeared to hit the ball but the umpire ruled against him. It looked as if Hayward and Moor,-who defended
very well,
would play out to the interval but the list ball before tifin kicked up and took the shoulder of the latter's bat and he was caught in the slips. The Afternoon-Play.
Leach was in after tiffa but after making 5 he tried to hook New. bury and was caught at square leg. A stand between Pearce and Hay- ward then followed. Both playing excellent cricket and it looked as is the match might be saved when Milea bowled Hayward with one that never roae at all. The retiring bataraan had made a very pretty 46 and had bad luck in get- ting out that way.

bowling and got soventeen out of the twenty wickets that fell be- tween them. I confess that I thought more use might have been made of Parker who got one for seven and one for five. He only and I thought he was not bowling sent down eight prers altogether at all badly.
The folding on the whole was quite fair but the Club batting side had rather a tail. So for the matter of that did the Army, The wicket was fair but rather bumpy at the Law Courts end. It was in a way | a disappointing match but it was a very pleasant game, and after all that is the only thing that really

Unfortunately after complating his hall-century with two good fours. off Miles he had a go at a well pitched up one and was well caught by Drysdale at long off. The re- maining batsmen geve little trouble. Fogden, distinguished himself by making a couple of smart catches behind the sticks. The Army won by 68 runs!
Comment.
The Army had Dobbie to thank chielly for their victory. He batted excellently in both knocks and bowled very well though he was not so successful in the Club second innings. He captained the side with excellent judgment. Morris played two good innings and was much more convincing in his batting than he has been for some time. Newbury and Miles also bowled well in the second innings of the Club The fielding on the whole was good though it was a bit patchy at times.
رواز
The Club were disappointing. Hayward and Pearce in the second knock batted very well but on the whole the batting was poor. Beach and Wales bore the brunt of the
