MOTHER DISGUSTED WITH HER SON.

[By NOTE-BOOK.]

The monotonous routine of Court proceedings saw a surprise yester day at Kowloon when a mother showed no mercy on her son who had robbed her. The woman sug gested a proper sentence, increased it and in the end thought that even five years would not be too severe.

"AH SOO'S CRIME.

Robbing his own mother was the spare time occupation of a Chinese house coolie who, with his mother an amah, were employed at No. 3, Pratt Buildings, Kowloon.

The Launch's Özasz... The crew consisted of the coxe- wain, Wong Yi: seaman, Au Hing: fireman or stoker, Ab "Hai`alías Au Siu; a boy Sai Lo; and a substitute engineer, Ah Wing.

The substitute engineer had only been on the launch for about two weeks and was put on, board by the permanent engineer, Aa San, had not been heard of, since the robbery. The prisoner was also friend of Au San. He was a mem- ber of the crew, but Au Ban used to bring him on board the launch occasionally and give him meals, '

Innocent Members Of drew Overpowered.

It was doubtful how many men took part in the robbery, but he would suggest that there were prob- ably five, including the fireman and the substitute engineer. Two of the robbers carried firearms and the innocent members of the crew were driven into the cabin where they were bound and searched. Prisoner was a principal searcher.

After further evidence, the case for the Crown was concluded.

Mr. Sheldon intimated that he did not intend to call evidence or to address the jury?......

Mr. Whyte Smith also indicated that he did not wish to address the jury.

The Summing Up.

When brought before Mr. W. Schofield at the Kowloon Mägis tracy, defendant admitted three charges of larceny arising from his action.

The shoe was put on prisoner again, apparently after he left the charge room of No. 2, Police Station, and he then wore his shoes without socks. Prisoner crossed in the ferry in charge of the police, and on the ferry his handcuffs were re- moved. He arrived at the Water Police Station and was ordered to be searched in the presence of an inspector. It was known to be the second search and nothing WA found on him. Yet after a deter tive had taken him away out of the Inspector's presence into a cell, and incidentally after the coxswain of the launch had attended to report, a seaman states in evidence that this man's shoes were removed and a piece of gold has taken out of one of them.

The men in the cabin heard the boxes Being broken open on the deck and later the crew felt the launch bump.
