Fam however convinced that there are lots of runs in the side and had we at any time "let up on things, we might well have taken it badly in the neck.

Punctually at 10.30 yesterday the match was resume Foster altered his order with the evident idea of wearing down the bowling, for he sent in Jordan with Blelloch. They Inced Wales and Dobbie and took twenty minutes compiling ten, runs. Then Blelloch played inside one of

it splendidly and Pearce whipped off the bails before he could get back. (11-2-0.) This was a tragedy For Malaya. At 11 im. Jordan who had batted. 30 minutes for a single was 1.b.w, to Wales who pitched one un the sticks and turned it in on to the middle. (1991.)

Further Misfortunes.

Taylor stopped for a short while but when he had made Dobbie took his leg peg with a fine ball; that beat him all the way.

With Braddell in Foster who had been- 'playing 'n' most cautious game. began to liven up a bit and the new- comer also laid the bat frmly on to the bad ones. When they had taken the score to 50 odd Brace went on for Dobbie. Wales made

brilliant attempt to catch a terrific square cut from Forest. the Two, balis later however Malayan skipper got inside one that kicked up badly and Dale took the catch prettily at first slip. By this time the wicket was cutting up nastily at the Law Courts end. Next over Braddell should have been stumped off Wales, but an over later the bowler got him caught at lang off. Braddell had hit a benuti. ful six just previously to long on but did not get hold of the second one, and Ramsey dashed in to effect nice catch (67-8-20.) Braddell gave glimpse of his true form and 1 should think he would be a most attractive bat if he got going. Final Effort By Whitley And Ford.

His first five scoring strokes were all boundaries except one, and that was a four, as Hay ward after racing across and saving the boundary could not pull up and fell over the chairs behind the line and the batsmen ran their four. Hankey went on and after three atrocious balls of which the hun- dred was sent up, bowled 'Whitley. who had made up his mind to hit the ball. *REVIEW.

It was heavy odds on the home side when the game was resumed yesterday, and I think Foster was right in adopting what is always rather desperate expedient.-- The match altering the order. against Kowloon had shown that against week-and therefore pre- sumably against tired bowling there were any amount of runs in the. Malayan side. Jordan has dont very well as a steady if slow open- ing batsman and it was just on the eards that if he and Blellach could stop an hour the later batsmen might help themselves largely from the tired bowling. However it wax not to be Jordan hung on for half ail hour for one run bat things were all but over when Congdon was run out in a most unfortunate manner. Foster and Braddell' tried hard and Ford and Whitley played most sporting and gallant knocks but at 19.24 the end came, and Hong Kong had won by an innings and 26 runs. The result was, I think, very largely due to excellent batting and splendid team work. The folding was excellent and nothing reason- able was put down. Apart from mistake, behind, the sticks-

Private I. H. Smith covered the 100 metres distance in 10.9-5secs, the mark set for the world cham- pionship. In running to this figure Pte. Smith, outstanding athlete, of the United States Legation here, also established a new mark for China runners to shoot at. In the 5,000 metres race Pte. Marshall of the British Legation Guard made the distance in 16mins secs., an- nounced by the officials as a North China record.

It has always been a source of annoyance to me that my ideas and conception of the golf awing are for ever changing:: not always in what I am actually doing with the chib, but in what I think I a doing. British Run Well. As in former years the Britons show high class in the running events, and Pte. Marshall gave a sensational exhibition of running in the 5,000 metres event. He start fed out at a heartbreaking pace and kept it up throughout the distance, He was full lap ahead of his cearest competitor and was fairly fresh at the finish.
