The returns for the 24 hours ended at 9 am. yesterday showed that imports

up to the average but that through cargoes were smaller than usual..

were

Imports amounted to 13,476 tons brought by 14 vessels, two British ship contributing 080 tons.

The two beat returns were shown by the ss. Limchow (French) and the Shinnoh Maru. The former, arriving from Haiphong and Hoi how, brought 2,750 tons and the latter from Nagoya and Kobe had 2,804 tons.

The coxswain of the motor bout, Channey No. 1, was charged yester day before Commander G. F. Hole, nt the Marine Court for being underway in the harbour without exhibiting regulation lights De fendant pleaded not guilty to the charge.

Evidence from a European Ser- geant was to the effect that at 8.40 on November 20th, he picked up the defendant's vessel by the aid of a search light. The motor boat was then in the Naval Anchorage and no side lights, were showing. Witness approached the defendant and found him using his port light | for repairing the engines.

Defendant admitted that this was so, but he was not underway. The vessel at the time was stpoped aa he was repairing the engines.
