I have just finished a long trip From Cairo to Cape Town looking for lapers. Starting from Cairo my wife and I travelled to Khartum then by the Nile through the Sudan ta Uganda, in which Protectorate we motored about 1,000 miles. Then on to Kenya, and right through that wonderful country to the coast, where we took steamer to Zanzibar. Thence we went Dar-es-Salaam and Beira to Nyasa land. After that we visited North- ern Rhodesia and Southern Rhode six, and we had long tour through South Africa, visiting all the leper institutions in the Union. The journey took seven months and we travelled, in Africa and along the coast, 2,874 miles by steamer, 3,630 miles by motor-car, and 8,240 miles by rail; 15,744 miles in alt. We found lepers wherever we weat, that is to say in every British territory in East and Central
