YESTERDAY'S FREIGHT RETURNS

SMALLER INWARD AND THROUGH CARGOES.

Though about the usual number of vessels arrived during the 21 hours ended at 9 am yesterday. cargo both for the Colony and for other ports was below the average. Only 0,923 tons of merchandise were discharged here, of which, 2.882 tans were contributed by six British steamers. The two best te turns were 4,907 tons of coal from the as. Ryui Yarn from Miike, and 135 tons of gusolene and general goods by the American vessel Jadden, from New Orlean's and Amoy.

Through cargoes totalled 3,101 tons. Four British steamera car. ried 9411 tons. The only four, figure return was shown by the 3. hangs from Bangkok and Swa- tow, this vessel having 1,200 tons The arrivals and departures durias the period under review were as under:

British Survey Ship At Manlis. The Herald, British naval survey ship, dropped her anchor in Manila Bay for a two day' visit last Thurs- day. The Herald is a small boati of approximately 1,000 tons, com- manded by Captain Hasel foot and carries eight officers. The survey bost, has been in Borneo waters recently and put in at Manila to coal up before Continuing ber trip. to Hong Kong.
