SATURDAY'S LEAGUE MATCHES.
INTERESTING SCORING: MANY CHANGES IN POSITIONS,
There was some interesting scoring in the English Football League matches on Saturday, and many changes have occurred in the League Table positions, teams that were toward the top dropping, while bottom clubs in same instances have improved their positions.
Newcastle United, last year's champions still retain their lead in Division E, just beating Sheffield United, by the only goal. scored. Bury have dropped down to third place, Everton, who scored 7 goals without reply from West Ham United, going second., Weat Ham who were third last week, have now gone to seventh position. There are many changes throughout the table. At the bottom, Portsmouth have dropped to next to last position. Man- chester United secured a b goals to ni victory,
In Division II., Chelsea, are still at the top, with Manchester City, Preston and Stoke retaining the same positions as last week in the order, giren West Bromwich go up to 5th place, and Oldham drop to sixth.
In Division III. (Southern) Charlton keep their lead, with Northants second, Norwich moving up from sixth to third place." Plymouth Argyle drop from fifth place down to eighth, through "losing on Saturday. At the other end of the table. Torquay drop down. Gillingham are at the bottom, but Bournemouth. have improved their position and gone to lith position. A notable feature of Division III. (Southern) was that there were five drawn matches...
In Division III. (Northers) there are no notable changes.

LADIES' SINGLE TOURNEY.
RESULTS OF FINAL.
The University Union was crowd- ed on Friday evening when Miss Wonz Sui Lan won the Ladies' Singles Championship by defeating: Miss Rose Kwok in three sets to two, 63, 109, 6-8, 3-6, 6-3. A hard struggle existed throughout the match and both players were in very good form. Miss Kwok gave a splendid exbibition of forehand drives in the 3rd and 4th sets, but Miss Wong, playing a sound defen sive game, won the final set and the match.
