TAN CHIN HIN WINS CHINESE EVENT,
THE LADIES TO-DAY
भ
The Annual Harbour Races or- ganised by the Victoria Ezcreation Club began yesterday evening when the Chinese event was decided. The entries fell much below the average, being only. six in aumber of whom
five completed the course. Con
ditions were favourable, there being bright sunshine and little currrut. The programme was carried out without a hiteb, thanks to the ex- cellent arrangement made by the organisers and the assistance of the Water Police who kept the course clear.
The winner was Tan Chin Hin, an old hand in the race, who led from the very start and using the over arm stroke right through finished wel ahead of the second
man.
Tan Chin Hin has a fine re- cord in local swimming, having been the winner of last year's Harbour Race organised by the South China Athletic Association and fourth in the rare held last Saturday. In the RC. Races he was fourth est year and this time he proved, n worthy winner, finishing in the go time of 34mins. 18yees. as against 37mins sees, last year when he came in fourth. The peord for this race is held by Wong Ping Fan. winner in 1925), whose time was 3mins 10.4-5aces.
Two Chin Hin swam a steady mce throughout and that he was in good form was evidenced by the fact that he nayer relaxed or changed stroke from beginning. to end. To this credit, he beat Lo Chee Hin who finished ahead of him in the South China Race last Saturday. He also showed good judgm at by taking a straight course and was deservedly applaude when he touched the Praya Wall first. His style was in contrast to that of the second man. La Chee Hin who used the breast stroke.

On the whole the race tame affair and was not as interest ing as expected. There wAS DE absence of competition and the five swimmers did not show any struggle for position. There was not much difference, however, rumong. them for they finished a few minutes within one another.
The Raco Described,
At 5.23 p.m. yesterday Mr. 3. Logan started the race from the nual point at Kowloon, the as- pirants being Tai Chin Hin, Yeung Hung Wah, Wong Shiu Chi, Lau Ming On. La Chee Hin, and Young Yuen Wah. From the start, Tan
