YESTERDAY'S FAILURES.
OFFICIAL PROGRAMME FOR THE VISITORS.
[DY R. LIAS.]
It would have been better if the fourth interport trial game on the Craigeagower Cricket Club green yesterday afternoon had not been played. In a quandary before, the selectors were placed in a worse pickle than ever after witnessing the number of failures yesterday As a result they have picked ■. "chance team" for Shangbai, lear- the Wallace as skip to carry on his three who did none too well in the four trial matches. These four comprise Wallace (skip), W. Mac- farlane, No. 3. Laing, No. 2, and Atkinson, No. 1. Omar is down as reserve, thus displacing Basa, who has been, as I stated in my notes on Saturday, the best of the No. 2's in the tris games.

"ST. ANDREW'S" NOTES. MISCELLANEOUS ITEMS.
Painting the Town is full of good things, it moves with a swing and produces a regular laugh every few minutes. It is not a farce of the kneck about kind but there is nothing at all high brow about it. We think you will enjoy this film and remember Mr. Tryon is a man to look out for...
The Balalaika.
Those who have never heard the balalaika played by an expert will be astonished at the technical skill and the expression with which M. Dimitry Dimof, the noted Rusajan artist handles this strange instru. ment of only three strings, espe-, cially when they remember that two of the strings are of the same note.
M. Dimoff is to appear at ni in the Queen's performances
The numbers Theatre to-morrow. be will submit Are Kreisler's Caprice Viennois. Mont's shar dash and a Russian song, a selection which will give an excellent idea of the range of note possible with the
