TO CO-OPERATE WITH SHANSI.
The Shansi troops, evidently prosting by the surprise they sprung upon the Fengtienese, still continue to have the better of the exchanges. Kalgan, which appears to have been their objective during the past few days, has now fallen into their hands, having been evacuated by the Fengtienese on Monday. In consequence, the Fengtienese troops have had to make a hasty exit to Suenwha, several south of Kalgas. They do not, however, appear to be in any way either down-hearted or disorganised, and are reported to be preparing to make a valiant stand in the vicinity of the Nankow Pass. Marshal Feng Yu Hsiang and General Tang Seng Chi have informed General Yen of Shansi that they intend to co-operate with him against the Fengtienese by launching an early attack against Shartung.
