THE NEW CAPTAIN,
Tribute was paid to Mr. E. In recognition of his valuable services and devotion to the Club the members voted him a Life Member.
THE HONG KONG DAILY PRESS, WEDNESDAY, SEPTEMBER 28th, 1927.
Favourable Comment,
Mr. A. O. Brawn, who has been a member for twenty-four years, said that as a member who had the interests of the Club at heart, he congratulated the cricket eleven on their success of last season and hoped that they might repeat their performances during..the coming! season. He was sorry that the lawn bowls section did not do better and expressed the opinion that it was due to bad espirit de corps. Es regretted that the Interport Lawn Bowls Match was not being played on their greens, as he considered theirs to be the best in the Colony and most suitable for a match of thas kind. Mr. Brawn compliment- ed the Committee on what they lud done in offering their ground liberally far the use of the Ser- vices. Turning to bad debts, 'he said that these were still far too much, although they had been cut down a good deal. Mr. Brawn con- cluded by praising the Bar Sub Committee for the excellent work Club 2360 less than in the previous said he had never done any work they had done during the year. He January thanks to the liberal sub-in this connection and thought he would never do it, but he felt that
The all important question of the tenure of the present ground, which vitally affects the sporting activities of the Club, was tem- porarily set at rest on the announcement by the President that the Government had promised the Club the use of it for two years more and in all probability, for a further two years: making our years in all. The scheme for the extension of the premises bad, therefore, to be left in abeyance.

Membership.
As regards du membership figures, our total is about 50 less than it was a year ago, but last year's figures were inflated by the. inclusion of a number of names of old members who had left the Colony, without actually resigning. As they are not likely to return, their names have now been remay- ed from the register.

As regards Subscriptions and Entrance Fees these are down by $1,000 and 2000, respectively. Tais is partly a sign of the times, and partly, no doubt due to the spring ing up on King's Park of a number of new Recreation Clubs which have
