MR. ARTHUR BOURCHIER DIES IN SOUTH AFRICA.

JOHANNESBURO, Sept. 14th The death has occurred of the actor, Mr. Arthur Bourchier.

[Mr. Arthur Bourchier, who was one of the best known of the Eng- lish actor-managers, was born at in 1883, and Speen, Berkshire, educated at Eton and Christ Church, Oxford.

Bourchier was the founder of the famous O.U.D.S. (Oxford Dai- versity Dramatic Society) whose productions were restricted to Shakespeare and the classics. After playing many parts at Oxford he first appeared on the professional stage with, Mr Langtry at Wolver- hampton in September, 1980. His: London debus took place in Febru ary, 1800, at the St. James's as Jaques in "As You Like It."

In 1886 he became lessee of the Royalty and in 1806-7 toured in America. In 1910 he and his wife joined Tree at His Majesty's where Bourchier scored a notable success ay Henry VIII.
