INQUEST REVELATIONS OF THE CAPTAIN,
DEATH FROM FRIGHT.
Revelations of a love drama on the high sana in which a stewardess. and a refrigerator engineer of a teamship were the central figures were made at the inquess at Rother- hithe on Louis Fisher, aged twenty seven, refrigerator engineer of the American Trader, who, it is alleged, was murdered by Maric Josephine Waite, aged twenty-four, the stewardess.
It was stated that Waite threw carbolic acid over Fisher while the vessel was at sea near the Scilly
Isles.
Major Whitehouse, the coroner, sat with a jury, who returned a ver dict that Fisher died from natural causes after fright, and that Waite did not intend to do serious barm

An Investigation to be jointly financed by the Australian Governe ment and the Empire Marketing Board into methods of surveying for oils and minerals within the Empire has received the approval of both parties concerned. i It is anticipated that the work (which will be conducted under the guidance of a competent export, and is likely to prove of value to many parts of the Empire) will take two years to complete.

There are within the Empire large areas of proved metalliferous value, in obscured by an overlying blanket of recent geological age, which in many cases is tively shallow, but renders the task of the geologist and of the prospec- tor both difficult and expensive. In particular, the West Austra lian fields may be mentioned. Very similar conditions obtain in large portiers of Canada.
