RA WOLK MULEAT, Major
Adjutant, H.K.V.D.C. THE REMEDY YOU BREATHE ▼ Hong Kong, July 22nd, 1937,
The hereditary peerage is to be established for ever. That is the straight road to revolutiot in this country. It is because I am a Constitutionalist that I believe in getting these things by Can- stitutional means, by reason and by argument, at election after electing, from Parliament to Parliament,
That is the story of freedom and of human progress. It is the -story of God's 'rule in this world
We do not want to dethrone the people, to throw them back two,
three, or four centuries
For the Grat mine months I lived in
tent on my estate, which is in the Rongai valley, west of Nairobi, clearing it of Then trees and undergrowth. my wife and two young daugh- *ters came out and we put up in "what are called "bandas”—mud and wattle huts until about, nine months later the house was ready.
By the end of the first year 7 had about 200 acres of land clear--- ed and ready for cultivation, and gradually I was able to add tennis court, and a garden for toy wife. Those were strenuous days.
There is a good living to be made in Kenya by men-prepared to work hard, and to my mind the Scottish yeoman farmer type do particularly well.
My wife likes living in Kenya and my children are happy there. I have great faith in the future of the country, and it is my hope that more land will be made evailable to British settlers.
