YESTERDAY'S FREIGHT

RETURNS.

LOCAL IMPORTS IMPROVE. - THROUGH FREIGHTS FAIR.

Yesterday's" freight returns show- ed an improvement as regards Hong Kang imports over the previous day, although there' was one less. arrival. The increase was some 5,000 tons.

Freights landed here totalled 17,830 tons, of which 3,840 tons were carried in three out of fire British arrivals. The beat British return * 2,300 tons of rice and general cargo...

Several vessels under other faga brought 13,683 tons of cargo, the best returns being 3,000 tons of rice and general, 2,750 tons of salt, 1,000 toas of beans, 4,474 tons of coal, and 1,983 tons of coal.

Through freights totalled 12.499 tons, with 6,900 tons in two British bottoms, the best boing 0,700 tom of general in the Adrustus, while the other ship carried 1,900 tons of general.

Four vessels of other fags bad 5,399 tons on board, the two best ro turns being 1,500 fons 9,544 tone.

THE RAWALPINDI » “ARRIVES.

As mentioned in another column, a crack liner of the P. & O. Line, the Rawalpindi, arrived in port yesterday morning and berthed at Kowloon Wharves. This is her first visit here and she brought the. Home mails við Suez.

She is of the same class as the Ranchi, Rajputana and Ranpura, the latter of which called here last year Built in 1925 by Harland and Wolf at Greenock, she was on- gined by the same firm at Belfast, her dimensions being length 147.7 beam 713 and moulded depth 43:4. with a gross tonnage of 16,819 and nett tonnage 9,418. Fitted for oil fuel at a Baah point of above 160 degrees, she has a N.H.P. of 2,478 and can turn out a comfortable 17

knots.

The Rawalpindi is commanded Arrivals and Departures,*
