The existence of the Adelphi, the historic area lying between the Strand and Victoria Embankment, and flanked by the Hotel Cecil and Charing Cross Station, is seriously threatened by an auction sale.
It would be a tragedy, says a Morning Post correspondent if this unique spot in London were to fall into the hands of an un- scrupulous syndicate, and although the tenants themselves are making an effort to form a fund to buy the estate, a Morning Post repre sentative discovered they are not optimistic that they will succeed.
