HONG KONG JOCKEY CLUB 4th EXTRA RACE MEETING.

INTERESTING RACING AND GOOD DIVIDENDS.

SALIGIA WINS AGAIN: MOWGLI'S UNEXPECTED

TRIUMPH.

1 BY RAPIER. |

There was a fairly big crowd at the Valley yesterday d they were rewarded by some excellent racing and the uncertainty was glorious for those who had the good fortune to spot the wise78. Place betting was remianerative and by no means difficult but the winning ponies were responsable for many upsets The course was fairly hard until the last two raves with rain This fell and the going in the last rien was very slippery, caused kelle to indulge in a few tireus tricks at the count ner- ment of the race and Mr. Bulteel parted company with his mount near the Judges box and his remarks were eloquent! The race for the K.0.8.B.'s Regimental Cop drew a field of 8 including Colonel Comya who is to be rongratulated upon his fine examples Mr. Mattingly won on Stripes and in participating in this race.

The Officers of the received a very nice cup for doing s K.O.8.B.'s have told me that they are very grateful to the Ste- wards of the Jockey Club for catering for them in this mammer but I feel sure that the Stewards are only too pleased to do so if the results justify their action as has happened in the pre- sent CASE. Most of the fields were big and the future of racing in Hong Kong is very rosy as each Meeting seems to relipse the others in interest. 1 would almost seem that a racing boum is about to take place and it is reassuring to know that we laye Hewards and Officials who are ready to cope with it effectually and It is really un- to uphold the highest traditions of the sport. necessary to tell them that a little slackness is a dangerous thing especially under the present circumstances.

The Bank of the K.O.S.B.'s again delighted the public with will rendered and suitably chosen selections of unsie during the

afternoon.
