The second floor is planned for shops, restaurants, and booths, but is also to be equipped with a series of seven moving platforms of dif ferent speeds ranging from 3 to 21 miles an hour. The fastest of these moving platforms is to have a seat. ing capacity for 200,000 passengers, who are to be transported free of charge.

At Rotoff on-Don a medical ex- amination of rounded-up children showed acquired disease in 34 per cont. of them, and alcoholism in 75 per cent. None of these children could write or read.

1t is reported from Tiflis that the authorities have discovered a trade in girls of the vagrant kind addicted to some form of drug mania. These girls are sold to the Orient, chiefly to Mongolia.
