Yesterday we published Router's account of the stormy reception given by the Labour Party, in the House of Commons, to the Govern- ment's Trade Union Bill at its second reading. A copy of a London paper recently to hand gives the following summary of the Bill and same Parliamentary opinions cx- presard immediately after its text wis first circulated in the House.

The Bill deals with the following

matters:-

Defines an illegal strike;

Gives protection to trade unionists refusing to take part in an illegal

strike;

Strengthens the law against in-

timidation of trade unionists; Defines the caning of "intimida-

tion

Forbids picketing of private resi.

dences;

Reverses the existing system for eellecting a levy for the political funds of a trade union; Declares that 1 return of the political funds of all trade. uuions, whether registered or un- registered, must be made to the Registrar General of Friendly 'Societies;

Prohibits Civil Servants from be costing members of trade unions connected in any way with other trade union bodies; Renders it illegal for local authori- ties to make membership of a trade union a condition of em- ployment;
