ANNUAL "GENERAL MEETING.

MR. W. J. HILL ELECTED PRESIDENT.

SUGGESTION OF PRIZES FOR UNIVERSITY ENGINEERING FACULTY,

A suggestion that they should give a prize for engineering at the Hong Kong University was made at the annual general meet. ing of the Institution of Engineers and Shipbuilders, held yester day. Mr. J. McQueen, who put forward this idea, said that at the annual dinner" of the Institution His Excellency the Governor " had mentioned co-operation with the University. It seemed to him that an institute that bad so much to do with engineering should also have something to do with the faculty of engineering at the University. If the institution put up some prizes it might bring about closer co-operation between the Institution and the "University,

The Chairman replied that he was sure the suggestion would be "looked into by the incoming committee, of which Mr. McQueen was

a member.!!
