On March goth, il my memory serves me, a match was played be- tween a sixteen captained by Mr. Your gaye and an XI. under Dr. Ponsonby-1
-Fane. The latter includ ed U. K. Sayer, A. A. Rumjahn, E. J. R. Mitchell, B. P. Ng, E. A Lee and, both S. V. and W. Chittens, and was too strong for the schools side. I print here a note for which I am obliged to a well- known cricketer who took part in the match:

There was more interest in the match between Ng Sze Cheung and I. M. Razack in the second round
the Open Singies. The Chinese player won in four sets and showed himself to be the more experienced .nd polished performer.. His shots bad grace and accuracy, though without much "kick ' behind. He
won the first two sets, without ex-
tending himself and time and again bent his younger opponent, who kept going up to the net, with pass-
Hazack tried to counter
attack Ng Sze Cheung by all round play, but showed his lack of ex perience by persisting in going up
the net without first cornering his opponent. In the third set, Razack had the lead all the way and was 3-1, 5-3 up. He lost advantage by reckless play and the struggle went on until he won the set at 9-7. Ng Sze Cheung then caserted himself and won the best
set at 0-4.
Mr. Youngsiye has reason to congratulate himself on the showing shots. put up by his team, drawn from local schools against Mr. Penson Fane's XI. on the Sanday Before last. They were beaten, it is true, but only after an excellent game, and they took their beating in the best spirit. The batting was TC- markably confident and it was particularly encouraging to find thus as one appeared at all afraid of hitting the ball hard. Ander son, and in the second innings F. R. Zimmern showed good style. Les (41), also batted well and has the makings of a useful bowler. Clarke caught and bowled 31it- chell of a full blooded drive, very fine catch. There were some catches dropped but the ground- fielding was very kean, a particu- larly smart throw-in taking S. V. Gittens wicket. It is to be hoped that the team, which should give a good account of itself against many local Clubs, will be kept in being."
On Wednesday last Queen's Col lege and St. Joseph's played a match which was won fairly com- fortably by the first-named side. Scores:-
St. Joseph's 1st inaings, 58; 2nd innings, 37, for 8 wickets.
Queens College: 107.
For the winners A. Hunt batted in admirable style for 66 not out.. I understand that he hopes to play for the Chinese Recreation Club next year and he "should prove an asset to them. (They want new blood almost as badly as the Civil Servich.) Ismail (I decline to at tempt to envisage yet another set of Ismail initials), a left hander,
