COLDSTREAM GUARDS' HEARTY RECEPTION IN SHANGHAL.

ITALIAN MARINES FOR THE FAR EAST.

Extremists are still committing daring actions in the Shang- hai International Settlement, and the mill-workers appear fully to sympathise with them, judging by the telegrams to hand.

The Coldstream Guards had a rousing reception on marching through the International Settlement. They are encamped at Jessärld 'Park, situated in the western district, and an ideal spot in every respect.

The Soviet Government has sent a second "strongly-worded" Niste to the Peking Government regarding the Russian "couriera,” including Mrs. Borodin, arrested on board the Patima Lenin. The indy is still in custody, and, necording to report, her fellow. couriers have not yet been executed.

A telegram to hand from Teranto, Italy, states that the auxiliary ship Volta is leaving for the Far East with marine nuita aboard. Shanghai is probably their destination.

The military situation in Central China is somewhat difficult to grasp, and all that appears certain is that both Northern and Southern troops are still in the vicinity of Soochow; while the Shantung troops are moving along the banks of the Yangtze, in the vicinity of Wuhu, with Nanking as their objective.
