The returns made to the Harbour Office by the vessels arriving here during the 24 hours anded at 9 am. yesterday showed that only 3,180. tons of general cargo had entered the Colony. Of these, 9,650 cona were discharged from four British steamers The best return was
the shown by 35.Wai Shing (British) which brought 1,948 tons from Tientair and Weihaiwei.
In addition to the general cargo landed here, there were also 12,800 tons of rice, timber and charcoal brought into the Colony by the Japanese steamer Meiji Maru, from Saigon.
Through cargoes were, manifested by three British steamers" only. These amounted to only 603 tons.
During the period under review, there were 12 arrivals and 11 de partures. The'r nationalities were: British, 4 arrivals and 6 depar tures; Japanese, 4 arrivals and departures; Chinese, 4 arrivals and 1 departare; Dutch, 1 departure; German, I departure.
The total number of vessels in port was 80, of which, 28 were British.
