Speculation as to the time of arrival of the 2nd Eatt. the Durham Light Infantry and the 2nd Batt. the Gloucester Regiment proved all

It was when the two hand- some transports of the British In- dia, line the Foana and the Takliwa, dropped quietly into the Huanpu about 10 a.. on Saturday the 12th inst, and came to moorings at the Old Ningpo Wharf and the Shang- hai and Hongkew Wharf with probably not more than a score of people aware of the fact.
During the next few hours, several score of people wandered down to the wharves, but no one was allowed on the boats and the hopes of seeing the then march off also
