GERMANS ACQUITTED BY RHINE COURT-MARTIAL.

Four young Germans who were Bccused of having been concerned in an assault on two British soldiers ab Warsdorf, in the Taunus Moun- tains, "were recently acquitted by the British Police Court at Wies ades, after a trial lasting two days.

The evidence showed that on Christmas Eve two English privates, after a rough-and-tumble Aght, were pitched out of a tavern by German civilians, one of the soldiers being rather severely knocked about in the course of the fray. ...

The court held that the two British soldiers, being at the time the worse for drink, had undoubted- ly given provocation, and were, therefore, chiefly to blame for what had happened.

The Germans are favourably im- pressed by the fairness shown the British in this verdict.
