The annual "Burns Nicht anniversary dinner, in commemora tion of the birth of Robert Burns, was Held last night at Volunteer Headquarters, and as usual proved sa most acccessful and happy function. The dinner was held under the auspices of the Hong Kong St. Andrew's Society but was open to all Scotsmen to attend. The colours of St. Andrew's in blue and white streamers stretched across the hall, and the name coloured Bunting draped the walls, with Scottish and other national fags entwined. At the head of the hail, immediately behind the Chieftain's table was hung the portrait of Robert Burns; while at the opposite end of the hall the temporary stage showed a clever and realistic reprès sentation of an old Scottish kitchen, on similar lines to that meth at the Halloween" dinner. To Mr. George, Duncans due the credit for the decorative scheme; and he accomplished, his task most successfully.

There were just over the 100 present, the majority Being members of the St. Andrew's Society. The Chieftain of the Hong Kong St. Andrew's Society (Mr. R. M. Dyer) presided, and among the guests present, were EE. the General Officer Commanding the Forces in China (Major-General C. C. Luard, C.B.), his A.D.Ö.
