[A.P.B.]

DURING THIS WEEK THERE HAS BEEN SOME EVIDENCE, ON PAPER AT ANY RATE, THAT THE CANTON AUTHORITIES ARE TAKING STEPS TO CURB THE LICENCE OF THE TRADE

UNIONS:

For some time past extreme Labour leaders have been rulers of the roost in the South; and constant strikes and labour disorders have been the result.

The effect of these troubles on trade generally has been as disastrous as the boycott. Now, however, the officials appear to be realising that Union control, must cease if order is to be restored, and stern proclamations against armed parades, unlawful arrests and picketing have been issued. If these proclamations are enforced there should soon be a decided improvement to be recorded.

The announcement has also been made that Canton is organising an expedition to clear the pirates from Bias Bay and co-operation from Hong Kong, within certain defined limits, is welcomed.

The situation, as it has developed day by day, is described in the WEEKLY PRESS. The paper will be eagerly welcomed by friends at Home. See that they receive copies.

The annual subscription to the WEEKLY, post free

to any part of the world, is $15.

With the addition of Mr. Cowan and Mr. Stokes to the referees list this week, there will be sufficient for the number of games to be played without any official having to take two games.

Thirteen games are down for to-day, the only team not taking part in a league fixture is H.M.S. Tamar.

The Champions are due on the Garri son "ground against" South China. A good game should be seen with the de, fence on both sides, holding the upper hand. With the addition of Orr, the Kowloon attack has been strengthened, but South China have a good defence and, should Lau Hing Cheung play the right game, a division of points is expected.

The crowd will watch the game on the H.K.F.C. ground between the China Athletic and the Borderers. The soldiers
