OLUB. ROYAL ARTILLERY.
A GOOD GAME. AT KOWLOON.
There was an exesilent game on the United Services Recreation"Club-ground at Kowloon yesterday afternoon, when the Hong Kong Hockey Club ist eleven were only just defeated by the Hong Kong and Singapore Brigade Royal Artillery by five goals to four goals.
The game was in the nature of a faal practice match prior to the Club playing the Navy and the Army during the next four weeks in the competition for the Sim Shield. Although the Club do not expect to pull this trophy off, they will certainly be in a position to put up a very good game.
E. L. Sin and A. A. Dand played well At half; and S. E. Garrod was very safe in goal. G. B. Slipper and G. "L. Wheeler also shone in the forward lite. It might be said that, the whole team played far better game than was ex- pected, and their form promises well for the forthcoming contest against the Services already referred to.
At half time the Club had not scored, the RA were then leading by two goals to nil. B. D. Evans scored first for the Club, from a pass by Slipper, and later the Club added another goal through Wheeler. The score went to 4-8 and then to 4-3, and when the final whistle blew the score waa 6-4 for the R.A G. P. Lammert secured the last two goals for the Club.

Ferguson, who was the only player in the semi- final stage last year who qualified. for the first round this year, and was looked upon a likely semi-finalist, and pos sibly to resch the final stage, failed, to get through. If he had he would have | mes Shewan in the second round. The semi-finalists now are Shewan . Dun- bar: and N. L. Smith v. Pendered.
The semi-finals will be decided next Sunday. It is difficult to forecast the winners, but on paper, it looks as if Smith and Fendered both are experienced Shewan will win his match, but as to
golfers, and both have figured in inter port sides. It will be toss up either way, with the odds slightly in favour of Per- dered. The final takes place on Sunday, December 19th, over 30 hales, and should Prove an excellent match.
