HEAVY DECREASE IN LOCAL AND

THROUGH FREIGHTS.

The returns for the 24 hours ended at 9 am yesterday showed a heavy decrease in freights for the Colony and ports be yond. Out of 11 arrivals only 6,015 tons of, general merchandise were landed for Hong Kong British vessels contributed 4,740 tons. The two best returns were re- gistered by the British steamer Sui Song and the s.ă. Tonkin (French); the former brought 3,400 tons from Bangkok and Swatow and the latter carried 1,000 tons from Haiphong,
