TWO SCUTTLED SHIPS.

CURIOUS EVIDENCE IN WIFE'S CLAIM.

During the hearing in the Law Courts, London, recently of the claim of Mrs. Olympia Anghelatas, of Palace Place mansions, Kensington, against Mr. F. S. husband, Mr. Denis Anghelatcs, a ship- Salaman, trustee in bankruptcy of her

owner, for £1,403 and £200, Mrs. Aight- lates said she advanced £4,000 to her husband, and was claiming nearly that amount from his estate.

In reply to a question, Mrs. Anghelatos sold that her mother never worked. She did not know how to work. She was a lady by birth.

Mr. Justice Roche: That is a new de finition, but of course we know what you mean. (Laughter.)

..

Mr. Denis Anghelatos stated that in 1018 one of his ships, which had cost him £13,700, was sunk by a German sub- marine, and the underwriters paid him £140,000 for her.

In 1931 he lost two ships, Gregorious and Olympia II., and it was eventual- ly held by the courts that both ships were cuttled, and therefore he could not re- cover from the underwriters. He then became insolvent.

Mr. Neilson: Your deficiency is £81,900 1-Yes.

A dividend of 3d. in the £ has been paid —Yes.

The hearing was adjourned.
