During the twenty-four hours ended at 9 a.m. yesterday Afteen.vessels arrived and twelve departed, the nationalities being:-Eight British arrivals and five departures; two Japanese arrivals and and departure; two Chinese arrivals: one Dutch arrival and one departure; one French arrival and one departure; one Italian arrival; one American and three Norwegian departures, leaving a total of 63 vessels in the harbour, of which es were British.

Freight returns showed 14,008 tons for Hongkong, of which the best returns were 1298 tons, 2,000 tons, 1,030 tons, and 4.106 tons. For ports beyond there were 20,003 tons, with entries of 5,305 tons. 4,617 tons, 4,507 tons and 4,000 tons top.

SHIPPING NOTES..

At the Marine Court yesterday, before Lieut. Commander G. F. Hole; R.N., two junk masters were fined $95, or three weeks' hard labour in default, for leaving the harbour without a permit.

In another case at the Marine Court. three Chinese junk masters were fined $15, or two weeks hard labour in default, for

failing to exhibit regulation lights oc their boats while under way. Doe mas- ter pleaded that the lights were of, but that when police officers came on board they shook the vessel so much" that the lights were extinguished.

A report, dated November ord, has been received at the Harbour Office from the master of the s. Kuning, who states in it that a derelict junk, danger- ous to navigation was passed in Lat.

The Captain of the s.3, dover Maru, ported to the Harbour Office yesterday that on the way from Shanghai three Chinese were rescued from the sea in Lat. 22.56 N., Long, 117.10 E. A spaken wreek was also passed.
