A very enjoyable social evening was spent by members of the Hoogkong Base- ball Club on Friday evening, when they were entertained to dinner on the s. President Taft (Dollar liner) which ar tived in port earlier in the day from Manila.

A review of the local game from its early days, with interesting sketches of how it should be played, was given by Mr. C. S. Rabson, who presided. Mr. Cockey was thanked for his remarkable pitching which won the match against the champions (South China A.A), who were beaten only once. In conclusion, Mr. Ransom said that baseball was the American game, and he was confident that his side would win the championship next year. (Applause.) --
