AIR ROUTE HALFWAY ROUND for the last time to-day.

THE WORLD.

Some details were given in the Daily Press recently regarding the plans of Mr. Tamotsu Aiba, President of the Japanese School of Aviation, for establishing air services round the world. His projects are ambitious. A new air service, he in- formed a Home newspaper last month, was to be inaugurated shortly between Tokyo and Karbind, in Manchuria, which would complete a chain of air services, making it possible to travel from Japan to London in five days. This journey now takes fifteen days by rail across Siberia. The new service will link up with Shanghai, Peking, and Taingtao, connecting with the Soviet service to Europe.

Ambitious.

When this comes inte operation there will be an "air route half-way round the world. Japan, however, has an степ more ambitious project in view. Mr. Aiba spoke of the intention of his country to bridge the Pacife by airplane, thus linking ap Japan and America. He hoped that the Atlantic would also be bridged in two years' time, probably by airships.
