SOUTH CHINA. JAPANESE The League match between South China and the Japanese, yesterday, was watch ed by a record number of spectators and provided much excitement.

The Japanese led by five runs to one in the first five innings, Ishimatsu being responsible for two beautiful home run bits South China gained four runs in the sixth to tie the score.

South China added another. ran in their last inning to win the match, bat the Japanese, lodged a protest on the ground of interference by spectators. The run came through E. Chin, who hit along the left base line, which was fouled by spectators, and ran home.

The Japanese, who did not take the game seriously, gradually made the same number of runs.

Kid" Raymond has accepted C.P.O. Jim Cartlidge's challenge, and intimates that he is prepared to meet him at any time over any number of rounds. It now only remains for the Hongkong Boxing Association to make an offer to the two men.

In a doubles match played to-day at the German town Cricket Club, R. Norris Williams and Vincent Richards beat H. 'Cochet and J. Brugnon in three straight sets, America thus holds the trophy for the sorenth consecutive season.

Accident To Tiden.

This is Tilden's first defeat in a Davis Cup championship match in five years. He was leading in the third set, when two line decisions were given against hirð. In' going after the fecond of these shots, he slipped on the ground and twisted his left knee. Although obviously in pain, he resumed play, but served a double. fault, which lost him the game and put Lacoste on the lead for the remainder of the match.
