The following interesting letter, written by the Wuchang correspondent of the N.-C. Daily News, gives some idea of the conditions in Wuchang when the Southern forces were pushing home their attack. Marshal Wu

is stated not to have been popular in the district and his troops are described as having little stomach for fighting,
