LAW.

TRADE UNION LAW. AN EARLY REPORT TO THE CABINET.

The Conservative organisers in Great Britain are taking the sense of the con- stituencies on what subjects the rank and file wish to discuss at the addual con- ference at Scarborough during the first week of October.

An outstanding feature is proving to be the strong dezire of trade unioniste to secure improved administration of the unions.

It is clear, says the political correspon- dent of the Daily Mail, that they regret bitterly that through apathy the control been of their local organisations has allowed to pass into the hands of an ex- treme minority with ill-conceived poli- tical ambitions rather than a desire for improved industrial organisation and. conditions.

There is a determined demand that the Government should amend the trade union law so as to provide for a Boeret ballot before the declaration of a strike. No less imperative is the demand that there should be afforded to trade union members the right to work should they desire to do so, and protsetion, from picketing which is by
