Although yesterday's shipping state- ment, for the twenty-four hours ended at 9 am, showed a slight decrease. on the total freight figures/of- between two and three thousand tons, compared Aum Sang, British str., 5.147 tons,
with the figures for the previous twenty- Capt. H. W. Chandler, from Califour hours, Hongkong cargo considerably. eutta, which port she left on July improved, and had increased by orer 8th, with a general cargo, lying at
three thousand tons, despite the fact that four fewer vessels arrived thah as in the Kowloon Wharf-Jardine, Matheson preceding statement. The decrease, there fore, was solely confined to freight for Lee Sang, British str., 078 toms, Capt.ports beyond Hongkong. and this was J. McAjnsh, from Haiphong and chiefly accounted for by reason of the Hothow with a general cargo, lying fact that only three vessels carried any, at buoy No. C30.-Jardine, Matheson and these, incidentally, were all British.
The actual decrease was 5,833 tons.

At 0a.m. yesterday there were 54 vessels in the harbour, of which 20 were British.
During the previous twenty- four hours nine vessels arrived, viz., four British, one Norwegian, one Japanese aand three Chinese. The departures over the same period numbered Afteen, viz., one Japanese for Batavia," one British for Manila, two Dutch, one American, one British, one Japanese and one Danish for Shanghai, two British for Singapore, Takao, one British for Bangkok and one two British for Amoy, one Japanese for
Chinese for Sha U Chung. Clearances numbered, four, viz., ene British for Haiphong, one British for Singapore, one Chinese for Hauhoi and one British for Miri.
Elida Clausen, Norwegian at71,44 tons, Capt. T. Sandvig, from Chin wangtao, with a cargo of coal, lying at buoy No. D3s-Dodwell & Ca. Japanese Prince, British motor ship. 3.874 tons, from New York and Shanghai, the latter port she left on. July 5th, with a general cargo, lying at Stonelitters.-Furness (Far East).

Lieut.-Commander G. F. Hole, R.N Marine Court yesterday, (3farine Magistrate) estreated the bail of e60 each, in respect of five Chinese, who failed to appear before him, on charges of being on board the s.. Fan lot without the permission of the master or the officer in charge. An open warrant for their arrest was also issued. -A notice from the Customs Authorities the Superintendent of Customs and the at Tientsin, dated July 17th, states that Treaty Power Consuls have declared the port of Canton to be cholera, infected. All vessels arriving therefrom are to abide, and be governed by the Sanitary Regulations for the ports of Tientsin and Chinwangtao.". For the present precau- tions will; be confined to medical in- spection..
