HONGKONG SHIPPING.--

With six fewer vessels arriving than on the previous day, it was to be expect ed that yesterday's shipping state- ment would show a decrease in freight The both for this and other ports. decrease recorded was 13,654 tons, com- pared with the figures for the previous twenty-four hours. Inward cargo suffer ed the worst, for although nine out of the ten vessels arriving carried cargo for Hongkong, the entries were very low, and the consequent decrease was much more than would-be expected Cargo for Kangkong showed the big drop of 8.500 tons, while freight for ports be yond had only diminished to the small extent of. 2,149 tons British vessels, however, figured well in both instances bringing two thirds of the cargo for this port, and carrying one third of the freight for ports beyond:
