HONGKONG SHIPPING.

THE HONGKONG DAILY PRESS, TUESDAY.

A heavily increased list of vessels arriving, namely eight more than the previous day, accounted for yester day's shipping statement recording total increase of 20,516 tons of freight, compared with the figures for the pre- viess twenty-four hours. However, the increase was entirely to do with freight for porta beyond Hongkong, for while an increase was shown here of 3,543 tons, compared with figures of the pre eeding period, Hongkong cargo dropped by 3,135 tons. Both in the case of cargo for this port and freight for other parts, the five British arrivali made a poor showing, the bulk of the cargo in each. instance being carried by vessels of other, nationalities.
