The R.MS. Empresa of Ania leaves Manila to-day (Saturday) at 4 p.m., and is due at Hongkong on Monday, June! 21st at 6 a.m.

SHIPPING NOTES.

The following notice to mariners bas been issued by the Commissioner of Custcina at Tientsin, under date of June 1st. Shipmasters and pilots are noti- fied that the signalled depths of water exhibited by the Customs Signal Station at Tungku, have been adjusted so as to leave o margin on the northerly line of the Taku Bar Channel. Navigatora are therefore warned to proceed across the Bar in strict accordance with the requirements of Articlo 3 of Navigation: Regulations. "A" operative on Har Channel,"

At the Marine Court yesterday, be- fore Lieut. Commander G. F. Hole, R.N., the steersman of a trading junk was fined $15, with the alternative, of two weeks' hard labour, for failing to exhibit regulation lights while under way. At the same Court, two masters and six mistresses of cargo bents were fined $10, cach, or ten days" hard labour in default, for mooring their bonts inshore at a distance of less than 100 yards from low water mark.
