TAX HONGKONG DAILY PRESS
A light improvement in freight re- turns was shown in yesterday's shipping statement, and despite the tact that one vessel less arrived than on the previous day, there was a total increano register eu, compared with the figures of the previous twenty-four hours, of 2,827 tous. Hongkong cargo had increased by 200 tous and freight for ports beyond, by
2,581 tons.
The total number of vessels in the harbour at 9 a.m. yesterday was bi, of which 30 were British. During the pre- vious twenty four hours nine vessels ar. Portrived, vin, four British, one Dutch, oue Japanese and three Chinese. The de. partares over the sate period came to ime, viz, une Dutch for Sourabaya, one British for Manila, one British for Amoy, one British for Feochow, ona Chinese for Icauhoi; one Japanese for Swatow, one British for Cebu, one Chinese for Sha U Chung and one Japanese for Saigon, Clearances came to four, viz., one British for Singapure, one Dutch for Mantok, oue Chine for Kwang Chow Wan and one British for Hoihow.
